450 m² | Interior Design & Project Supervision

Located at Çukurova International Airport, the 450 m² Çelebi Domestic Lounge was conceived as a contemporary hospitality space inspired by the distinctive landscape, colours and cultural character of the Adana–Mersin region.

The design draws inspiration from the Mediterranean identity of Çukurova, where citrus groves, warm sunlight and rich natural colours define the local atmosphere. References to orange trees and lush greenery are integrated throughout the interior, bringing a sense of nature and vitality into the airport environment.

Copper-toned pendant lighting, warm terracotta accents, soft turquoise upholstery and natural wood finishes establish a vibrant yet carefully balanced material palette. The contrast between these warm, expressive elements and the exposed industrial ceiling gives the space a distinctive contemporary character.

A combination of comfortable lounge seating, intimate conversation areas and a generous communal counter offers passengers different ways to relax, work or socialize before their flights. Expansive glazing introduces natural daylight and maintains a visual connection with the airport surroundings, while layered artificial lighting creates a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.

The architectural approach goes beyond conventional airport lounge design, seeking to establish a sense of place through regional references, material expression and spatial comfort.

The complete interior design and project supervision were undertaken by architect Betigül Özker, with particular attention to translating the original design concept into the completed space.

The result is a contemporary airport lounge that reflects the warmth, energy and natural identity of Çukurova, transforming the passenger experience into a memorable expression of regional character.
